Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos Rescinds Sexual Assault Protections

With the rescinding of Title IX obligations to address sexual harassment on campus, LGBTQ persons are more vulnerable than ever to sexual assault and harassment.  Most at risk are transgender persons, as important clarifications regarding protecting transgender students from discrimination were withdrawn in February.

Group of Olathe NW students say the way their peers treated them during the school’s homecoming parade has them concerned

During the Olathe, Kansas Northwest High School homecoming parade, students marching as part of the Gender and Sexuality Alliance were harassed by other students, who threw candy in their faces and chanted “Make Olathe Northwest Straight Again”.

Transgender high school students kicked off school bus

Two transgender high-school students in Glens Falls, New York, were kicked off the bus after their driver told girls to sit on one side of the aisle, and boys to sit on the other side of the aisle.  When two male-identifying trans students sat on the boy’s side and refused to move, the driver required them to exit the bus.
