Residents will soon have the option of a third category under gender when applying for driver’s licenses or state ID cards. The options will be: female, male or “X”.

Texas recently signed House Bill 3859 into law, taking effect in September, which will allow adoption agencies, group homes, counseling services and others to legally refuse to assist children based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
