‘Power Rangers’ makes history with first gay superhero on the big screen

The Power Rangers is making history as the first big budget movie to feature a gay superhero.  This comes six years after David Yost, who played the original Blue Power Ranger on the TV show, left after suffering anti-gay harassment while on set.

‘Beauty & the Beast’ breaks box office records despite protests of gay character

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast was truly a box office beast, opening with an estimated $170 million in North American ticket sales and setting a new high mark for family movies.  As previously reported here and here, the film faced opposition in some areas of the world including Alabama, Malaysia, and Russia.

RuPaul Is Said To Plan Show Based On His Life In 1980s New York

RuPaul, outspoken activist and host of the ground-breaking reality television show “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” has a new show coming soon.  The show will be based on RuPaul’s life in 1980s New York City, and will be a half-hour comedy.  RuPaul is truly one of a kind; a host, supermodel, singer and drag personality, he was also a driving force in New York’s club and drag scene in the ’80s.  In the ’90s, he achieved mainstream success at a level rare for an openly gay performer, with hit songs, a prominent modeling career and a VH1 talk show.
