Lady Gaga Goes Patriotic And Political In Super Bowl Half Time Show

While the Super Bowl is one of the largest sporting events in the world, many see it as a framing device for Lady Gaga concerts.  Many expected Gaga to use her half time performance as an opportunity for an overtly political statement against the Trump administration, but she took the classy route instead.  As she told The New York Times, “I believe in a passion for inclusion. I believe in the spirit of equality, and that the spirit of this country is one of love and compassion and kindness. My performance will uphold those philosophies.”

Gaga started her show by singing a medley of This Land is Your Land by Woody Guthrie and God Bless America which sent a powerful message; the United States belongs to everyone.  Lady Gaga went on to sing Born This Way, her song reminding us of the importance of inclusivity for everyone.
