LGBT Titles Top The List Of Most Banned And Challenged Books In America

In case you missed it, ALA’s annual list of the most banned books of 2016 was released recently and many of them contain LGBT+ characters and content.  The full list can be found here.

TX Senate Advances Bill Allowing County Clerks to Refuse to Issue Marriage Licenses to Gay Couples

Clerks need only indicate their “profoundly held religious belief” in order to be allowed to refuse issuing a marriage license.  Sen. Brian Birdwell (R) said, “This provides a way for clerks to exercise their profoundly held religious beliefs under the First Amendment, and at the same time protect the rights of couples who are coming in for a marriage license.”

Nebraska’s State Supreme Court struck down a decades-old ban on adoptions by gay and lesbian individuals and couples.  Nebraska was the final state to remove this archaic rule.
