MPAA once again over-censors LGBT film

The British LGBT breakout success film Pride has received an “R”-rating from the Motion Picture Association of America. This means that in most cinemas, children under the age of 17 will not be allowed to see the film unless they are accompanied by a guardian.

As we reported a few months ago, another gay-themed film with no sex or violence entitled Love is Strange received an “R”-rating from the MPAA as well, presumably because of that movies homosexual content.

The MPAA has a long history of trying to censor LGBT films by rating them R or NC-17 for content that would be given a much tamer rating if the content were more heteronormative. Here is the trailer for Pride which starts a limited US release this week:
