Right now, the E3 conference is going on, so gamers (and gaymers) around the world are getting fresh looks at what the gaming industry has in store for the coming year. One of these announcements from Square Enix announced that their tent pole series Final Fantasy would feature same sex marriages in the fourteenth installment. The change has been pending since 2012, but it looks like it will finally become a reality.
While there was some positive news on this front, not every announcement was met with equal cheers. Several commentators noted that for Microsoft, Sony, and Ubisoft, few female characters were taking the lead in new games. So, it seems for the moment that progress is still coming in mind-numbingly slow steps.
