The ATLAH Missionary Baptist Church in New York City has become notorious over the last few weeks for their signs that have demonized the LGBT population. The signs (reproduced below) have drawn the ire of many due to their hateful content.
In response to these signs, 50 LGBT activists arrived at the church this past Saturday, letting the mystified employees know that they were there for their stonings. The protests, led by Harlem resident and transgender activist Jennifer Louise Lopez, called for a citywide day of solidarity on Easter to speak out against churches that preach intolerance.
Neither the pastor nor any representatives of the church met with protesters, and the protest broke up without a single person being stoned.
