Newly approved history textbooks for the state of California are LGBT-inclusive. Those that did not include LGBT history were rejected as they did not conform to the 2011 Fair Education Act.
Danica Roem defeated her 13-term Republican opposition candidate (who sponsored a bathroom bill that never made it out of committee) to become the first trans woman to the Virginia House of Delegates.
Despite – or perhaps because of – the lack of movement in LGBTQ issues at the national or state levels, more cities and towns are enacting their own nondiscrimination resolutions and ordinances…sometimes in what might seem unlikely places.
