Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin Signs Bill Legalizing Discrimination Against LGBT Students

Governor Matt Bevin has signed into law a Kentucky ‘religious freedom’ bill which legalizes discrimination against LGBT students.  HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow puts it this way, “No student should fear being excluded from a school club or participating in a school activity because they are LGBTQ.”  She goes on to state that while private groups have the freedom to express religious viewpoints, they should not be able to discriminate with taxpayer funds.

White House Proposes Massive Cuts to PEPFAR, AIDS Research and Prevention in U.S.

To further its onslaught against LGBGT+ citizens, the Trump administration has proposed massive cuts to the department of Health and Human Services.  Part of the plan is to slash funds to international AIDS programs instituted under President George W. Bush and AIDS prevention and research in the United States.

New poll shows 12 percent of Americans identify as LGBTQ

A new Harris poll found that 12% of the US population identifies as LGBTQ.  The poll, commissioned by GLAAD, found younger people far more likely to identify as LGBTQ than older people.
