What is your role in the GLBTRT?

I am a member.

What does the GLBTRT mean to you?

The GLBTRT allows me to stay connected with all things LGBTQ* for the library and patrons.

Are you involved in ALA in other ways?

I am a member of YALSA and ALSC.

What professional work do you perform?

Currently, I work as a Public Services Librarian (juvenile) working with youth ages 0-18, and their parents. It’s the most rewarding experience of my career.

What would you like to share about your personal life?

I have 2 fur babies, Punky Brewster and Jawselin, aka Jaws. Both are 50lb beasts that love to snuggle.

What are you most proud of?

I am most proud of the fact that I am fulfilling my dream to help change the world. As a librarian, I can inspire children (and parents) to consider new ideas and philosophies.

Who inspires you?

My late grandmothers inspire me. Both were descendants of immigrants, one Sicilian and the other Hispanic.

What are your goals? (Professional and/or personal.)

A personal goal is to run a half-marathon this year. Training is very time consuming. I can’t wait until it’s done!! A professional goal is to be a rockstar librarian every day.

What do you think (or predict) is the future of libraries?

The 21st Century library will be a place for exploration and learning. Kitchens and recording studios are the new wave of libraries.

In what direction would you like the GLBTRT to move in the future?

I would like to see the GLBTRT move to incorporate more bisexual agendas for librarians and patrons.

What would be the title of your autobiography?

Alter Egos

If you could only choose one song to play every time you entered a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

If you could have a dinner party with 5 culturally or historically significant figures, living or dead, who would you invite?

I would love to have dinner with Madonna, Sally Ride, Ellen DeGeneres, LeVar Burton, and Mr. Rodgers.

What is the meaning of life?

The meaning of life is to inspire others to do their best.
