Taiwanese Defense Ministry’s Gay-Themed TV Episode Removed From YouTube

An anti-gay group got an episode of a gay-themed TV show produced by the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense removed from YouTube.  The group ‘Alliance of Crying for Hope’ called the government ‘shameful’ and ‘needing medical attention’.  They claimed the video violated community guidelines.  In part, their comments read: “Imagine what kind of island Taiwan would become if the military became the breeding ground for AIDS.”

 

Bangkok to Hold First Gay Pride in 11 Years

Bangkok usually has an “anything goes” reputation, yet it has not had a gay pride festival since 2006.  That might change in 2017 with a planned six-day event currently slated for an unspecified date in November.  While there was no official ban on a celebration, organizers felt that over-commercialization of previous events was a factor in the 11-year pride event hiatus.

 

New Survey: 83 Percent Of Germans Back Marriage Equality

Germany’s Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency funded a survey that found an 83% approval rate for marriage equality.  This may not seem shocking since Germany is considered a socially liberal country, but what is surprising is that the German government still refuses to adopt legislation that will protect its LGBT citizens.
