Jennifer Holliday Backs Away From Performing At Trump Inauguration

In an open letter, Holliday indicated that she wanted to use her voice as one of healing.  She went on to say that “I did not take into consideration that my performing for the concert would actually instead be taken as a political act against my own personal beliefs and be mistaken for support of Donald Trump and Mike Pence.”  Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, and Lee Greenwood are still scheduled to sing at the 19 January concert.

Will President Obama Commute The Sentence Of Chelsea Manning?

NBC News has reported that President Obama placed Chelsea Manning on the short list for a possible commutation.  Manning remains incarcerated at Leavenworth military prison serving a 35-year sentence for leaking 700,000 classified military and State Department documents to WikiLeaks.  Chelsea Manning has twice attempted suicide and went on a hunger strike until the military approved her gender affirmation request.
