New Animated Version of Gay Fairy Tale

Daniel Errico’s digital children’s book, The Bravest Knight Who Ever Lived, tells the story of Cedric, a pumpkin farmer-turned-knight who woos a prince in the course of his adventures. Now streaming media giant Hulu has turned the book into an animated short film, Out reports:

Cedric now shares streaming space with popular shows, such as Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig and the classic Fraggle Rock.

“Giving Cedric a home alongside some of the most beloved and important characters in children’s media means a great deal for his message, and the future of characters like him,” Errico says.

Though the film currently stands alone in its offering — a LGBT, family friendly program — but, perhaps, not for long.

According to Hulu, there isn’t any specific plan to adapt Errico’s other stories or any other LGBT specific children’s programs, but it is open to doing more. “We would be delighted to explore the potential of acquiring more content that features positive, family friendly, LGBT messages,” Andrew Thomas, senior content acquisition manager of Hulu, tells Out.

And if it did, Hulu could potentially carve out a space of content not readily available to LGBT families. But for now, at least we have this brave knight and his handsome prince.
