Stonewall Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award Attracts Attention

ALA adds GLBT youth literature award to prestigious Youth Media Award announcements

As the publishing industry prepares for the announcement of the American Library Association’s (ALA) Youth Media Awards, authors and illustrators of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) literature for youth will have their fingers crossed in hopes of receiving the coveted Stonewall Children’s and Young Adult Literature Award.

Over the last few days we’ve been thrilled to see the Associated Press story get picked up. Many are just reposting the AP story but some are doing more customized stories and they often mention the Rainbow Project. The story is now making it’s way to many major news sites, local and national LGBTQ news sites, newspapers, parenting news sites, personal blogs, etc. Out of the 50 or so sites we’ve seen the story on, the following is a little sample:
