Two new polls released this week have shown increased support for both same-sex marriage and acceptance of trans people.

First, an ABC News poll showed 61 percent of respondents approving of same-sex marriage. This is the highest level of support ever recorded by this poll. This is almost a doubling of support from 2004 when the poll recorded its lowest support rate of 32 percent. The poll showed equivalent support for disallowing state’s to ban same-sex marriage and requiring states to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. Click here for the full poll.

A poll by the HRC has shown that 22 percent of people say they know or work with a trans person, up from 17 percent last year. Within that group, 66 percent said they felt favorable towards trans people with only 13 percent expressing a negative opinion. Click here for the full results.
