Meet Jenni Frencham!: An RT member profile by Tess Goldwasser

Meet Jenni! Jenni is a reviewer for the GLBTRT book blog. A middle school librarian in the San Francisco Bay Area, she is in charge of a library used by 500 or more middle school students and their teachers. She is most proud of completely revamping the library where she works and increasing the circulation by 250%!

She and her wife Mo have been married for just over a year now. They met in library school at a GLBT event! They have a cat who is spoiled rotten, and they like to travel and visit national parks. Their favorite park so far is a toss-up between the Redwood National Park in northern California and Dinosaur National Monument in Utah/Colorado. When not traveling the country, Jenni likes to geek out by watching Star Wars, and Pinky and the Brain, and playing Plants vs. Zombies on her Xbox.

Her passion is reading. She loves to help kids bridge the gap between learning to read and loving to read. She says “I spend most of my workday learning about the books my students like to read so I can recommend other books to them and help them develop a lifelong love of reading. Also, as a former English teacher, my world shines a little brighter every time one of my former students posts something grammar or literature related on Facebook.” When she’s not reading, she’s building things with LEGO bricks. Jenni currently has a LEGO train track running the entire perimeter of her living/dining room!

As for goals she says, “I would give my eyeteeth to be on the Stonewall Committee someday.” She’d also love a job as a children’s/teen librarian in a public library, and at some point to visit all 50 states (she’s been to 27 so far, not counting stops in airports).

If Jenni were an animal, she’d be a cat, because “they are the emperors and empresses of their worlds, and they get to sleep for 18 hours a day.”
