Change comes far too slowly, but it’s always heartening when there are some signs of progress. During the GLBTRT Executive Board Meeting at ALA this year, someone mentioned the fact that there was a “gender neutral bathroom” available near the main entrance for conference services and exhibits (thanks to Melody Townley for the picture!). Although promising, there is still a distance to go on this issue in order to provide truly inclusive restroom access to all conference attendees regardless of gender identity (including providing more restrooms that meet this criteria and clearly marking them in the conference brochure). GLBTRT will continue to advocate for this change to conference procedure.
