[18pp.].<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0pt none; float: left; padding-right: 10px; padding-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-656\" title=\"Cover for Different Families Make the Universe Go Round\" src=\"http:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/reviews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Different-Families-e1324408535569.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"266\" \/>Casey Berna\u2019s<em> Different Families Make the Universe Go Round<\/em> is a picture book geared towards preschoolers that combines color and number concept awareness with the underlying message that families (or aliens as they are depicted) are different, loving, and necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Though the book is unfocussed and would have benefitted from one strong theme (instead of three) in order to prevent the main message from being lost, Berna and Matthew McNamara\u2019s illustrations &#8212; depicting alien families in outer space &#8212; are colorful and engaging.<\/p>\n<p>If one is seeking a picture book that depicts family diversity or GLBT families, <em>Different Families<\/em> may not be the best option.
