The Miriam Braverman Memorial Prize is looking for the best paper about the social responsibilities of librarians, libraries, or librarianship from a student currently enrolled in library school. The prize includes a $500 stipend to offset travel costs to the 2014 Annual ALA Conference in Las Vegas as well as publication of the winning paper in the Summer 2014 issue of\u00a0<em>Progressive Librarian. \u00a0<\/em>Here are the details for how to enter:<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Contestants must be Library and\/or Information Science students attending a\u00a0graduate level\u00a0program in the United States or Canada. Contestants may not have\u00a0finished their coursework earlier than December 2013.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Entries must be the original, unpublished work of the contestant, and must be written in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">English. Entries may not exceed 3,000 words and must conform to MLA intext\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">citation\u00a0style.<\/span><\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">To facilitate the blind review process, each entry must include a cover sheet providing the\u00a0contestant&#8217;s name, full contact information (address, phone number, email\u00a0address), nameof the institution where the contestant is enrolled, and the title of the paper. No identifying\u00a0information other than the title should appear on the paper itself.<\/span><\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Entries must be submitted electronically, in Microsoft Word or RTF format, to\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\" href=\"mailto:bravermansubmissions@gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\">bravermansubmissions@gmail.com<\/a><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">. Entries must be received no later than\u00a05:00 p.m. CST\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">on International Workers\u2019 Day or May Day,\u00a0Thursday, May 1, 2014.<\/span><\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">The $500 stipend is available only\u2020to help defray the cost of ALA \u00a0conference attendance\u00a0in 2013\u037e if the winner of the contest is unable to attend, the money will remain in the\u00a0Braverman Prize endowment fund.
