The site states: \u201cWe celebrate young adult books about all kinds of diversity, from race to sexual orientation to gender identity and disability. Our goal is to bring attention to books and authors that might fall outside the mainstream, and to bring the margin to the center.\u201d Instead of reviews, <i>Diversity <\/i>publishes author guest posts and interviews, bibliographies, analyses of data about diversity in YA books, and links to discussion about diversity in YA books. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.malindalo.com\/2013\/10\/ya-books-about-lgbt-characters-of-color\/ \">This week\u2019s new releases <\/a>lists <i>Beyond Magenta, <\/i>and a valuable bibliography from 2013 is a list of LGBT people of color in YA lit.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2018Ring of Keys\u2019 from Bechdel\u2019s Memoir<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Last month the musical <i>Fun Home<\/i>, adapted by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori from Alison Bechdel&#8217;s 2006 graphic memoir, closed after its five-month run Off-Broadway at the Public Theater. Called \u201cthe first mainstream musical about a young lesbian,\u201d the musical shows the author\u2019s relationship with her gay father Bruce Bechdel. Those who missed the performance can enjoy the song \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/soundcloud.com\/playbillonline\/ring-of-keys\">Ring of Keyes<\/a>\u201d about the first time that the author\/character sees a butch.<\/p>\n<p><b>Artist Supports Bullying Victim<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Like many other children, Michael Morones, 11, loved <i>My Little Pony. <\/i>But ridicule from classmates led the North Carolina boy<a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2014\/02\/10\/art-for-michael-morones-_n_4761263.html?ir=Gay%20Voices&amp;utm_campaign=021014&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=Alert-gay-voices&amp;utm_content=Title \"> to attempt suicide last month<\/a>. In response, Ohio-based artist Paul Richmond has co-launched a new campaign called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/youwillriseproject.blogspot.com\/p\/artformichael.html\">Art for Michael<\/a>\u201d\u00a0as part of the\u00a0 anti-bullying <a href=\" http:\/\/www.youwillriseproject.blogspot.com\/\">You Will Rise Project<\/a>. It allows users to submit artwork supporting Morones who may have brain damage and needs a tube in his throat after his suicide attempt.
