David Cicilline proposed a new rules package that bans\ndiscrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation. Although\nmany states and cities already have laws that protect LGBTQ individuals from\nthis type of discrimination, federal law has not caught up yet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiplinger.com\/article\/retirement\/T036-C000-S004-retirement-housing-options-for-lgbt-seniors.html\">Retirement\nHousing Options for LGBT Seniors<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there is still a deficit of safe and affordable housing\nfor openly LGBT seniors, developments that are designed with their specific\nneeds in mind are on the rise.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hms.harvard.edu\/news\/tool-combat-bullying\">A\nTool to Combat Bullying<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Harvard researchers in cooperation with school health\nprofessionals in the state of Massachusetts are in the final stages of\ndeveloping a tool for early intervention in cases where LGBTQ youth are\nbullied.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/4CSGOCUYTNE2XMRNHA7SIUA7XA.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4005\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/4CSGOCUYTNE2XMRNHA7SIUA7XA.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/4CSGOCUYTNE2XMRNHA7SIUA7XA-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/education\/2018\/12\/nj-could-soon-require-high-schools-and-middle-schools-to-teach-historical-accomplishments-of-lgbt-community-and-disabled-people.html\">N.J. may require schools to teach about the accomplishments of LGBTQ and disabled people<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The New Jersey state assembly recently approved a bill that\nwould require schools to incorporate important historical contributions by\nLGBTQ and persons with disabilities in the curriculum.
