Federal civil rights law protects gay workers, U.S. appeals court rules<\/a><\/p>\n

A U.S. appeals court has ruled that a federal law banning sex discrimination in the workplace also prohibits discrimination against homosexual employees.? This ruling contradicted a court brief filed by the Trump administration in 2017 that proposed that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was not intended to provide protections for LGBTQ people in the workplace.<\/p>\n

At the time of this reporting, over 300 people have signed a petition demanding that the public library segregate and label “materials that deal primarily LGBTQ issues” and “halt new acquisition of any additional materials that primarily deal with LGBTQ materials before a public discussion can be held about the acquisition so valuable feedback can be given by important stakeholders such as parents, teachers, and faith communities.”<\/p>\n
