Lierman<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Play School<\/em>, Australia&#8217;s longest-running children&#8217;s show, plans to include a family with two fathers in a multitude of different family structures in its &#8220;My Family, Your Family&#8221; segments, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2016\/feb\/04\/play-school-puts-out-casting-call-for-child-with-two-dads-to-show-diverse-families\">The Guardian<\/a>. The segment will focus on children from different types of Australian families, also including &#8220;an adopted family, an extended family, a blended family, [and] an Indigenous nuclear family,&#8221; based on its recent casting calls. The show was criticized in 2004 for airing a similar segment featuring a child with two mothers, but creators have stood by the choice. They now feel that the &#8220;conversation has definitely evolved&#8221; around same-sex parents in popular culture, and that rather than courting controversy, the segment will simply portray &#8220;a reflection of contemporary Australian life.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ashley R.
