Members of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliaments, voted 71-24 against the measure. The move does not come as a surprise as the conservative?Bharatiya Janata Party controls that house of Parliament. Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonblade.com\/2015\/12\/19\/india-lawmakers-reject-bill-to-decriminalize-homosexuality\/\">Washington Blade:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Friday?s vote took place roughly two years after the Supreme Court of India <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonblade.com\/2013\/12\/11\/india-supreme-court-reinstates-sodomy-law\/\" target=\"_blank\">reinstated Section 377.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court of India a few months later said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonblade.com\/2014\/04\/22\/india-supreme-court-agrees-reconsider-sodomy-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\">it would consider a motion<\/a> to reconsider the controversial ruling that sparked outrage among LGBT advocates in India and around the world.
