Brown, who had previously served as Oregon Secretary of State, will ascend to the job after the resignation becomes official on February 18th. Via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/politics\/archive\/2015\/02\/kate-brown-americas-first-openly-bisexual-governor-oregon-John-Kitzhaber\/385496\/\">Atlantic:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Brown will serve until 2016, when an election will be held to serve out the remainder of Kitzhaber&#8217;s term, which ends in 2019. She could run in that race.
