Be sure not to miss these programs of special interest to the GLBTRT Membership:<\/p>\n<div><strong>Blood Donation: Facts, Fear and Discrimination<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>GLBTRT will be hosting a panel at the 2015 Midwinter Meeting entitled &#8220;Blood Donation: Facts, Fear and Discrimination&#8221; as part of the News You Can Use series.?Since 1983 the FDA has forbidden any man who has ever have had sex with a man from donating <span class=\"il\">blood<\/span>. Fortunately, the FDA is considering changing this policy to allow some <span class=\"il\">blood<\/span> donations by men who have sex with men. This panel will educate librarians from around the country about this issue and how it relates to access and?<span class=\"il\">blood<\/span> drives.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Our panel will be held at <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1868827548\"><span class=\"aQJ\">8:30am, Sunday, February 1st<\/span><\/span>. Speakers will be announced soon.<\/span><\/div>\n<p>If you have any questions, please contact the Executive Board or Ann Symons?directly.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Conversation on Diversity and Inclusion at Midwinter?<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Members are invited to a ?Conversation on Diversity and Inclusion? <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1868827496\"><span class=\"aQJ\">Sunday<\/span><\/span> afternoon at Midwinter from <span class=\"aBn\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_1868827497\"><span class=\"aQJ\">1:00-2:30 p.m.<\/span><\/span>. The conversation will be facilitated by Dr. Jorge Reina Schement, vice-president for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, Rutgers University (and former dean of the School of Communications and Information) and Nancy Kranich, lecturer and special projects librarian, Rutgers University, and chair of the ALA Center for Civic Life.
