{"id":1418,"date":"2014-11-14T19:05:45","date_gmt":"2014-11-15T01:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/news\/?p=1418"},"modified":"2014-11-14T19:05:45","modified_gmt":"2014-11-15T01:05:45","slug":"i-am-jazz-teen-trans-advocate-is-published-author","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.glbtrt.ala.org\/news\/archives\/1418","title":{"rendered":"I Am Jazz: Teen Trans Advocate is published author"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Ilyse Kramer<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thirteen-year-old Jazz-Jennings is a prolific trans advocate, recognized as the youngest person on The Advocate\u2019s \u201c40 under 40.\u201d She has co-founded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.transkidspurplerainbow.org\/\">TransKids Purple Rainbow Foundation<\/a>, which is committed to supporting and advocating for Trans children in their communities, shared her story on 20\/20, 60 Minutes, the Oprah Winfrey Network, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/jazzmergirl\/videos\">YouTube vlogs<\/a>, and recently co-wrote an autobiographical picture book titled <em>I Am Jazz.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#storylink=cpy\">In an interview with The Miami Herald<\/a>, Jazz stated: &#8220;I wrote this book so we could help educate other transgender youth and families that it is OK to be different. It\u2019s not just geared to LGBTQ people, but for everyone who is unique.
