The musical will be based on two films by Luis Bu\u00f1uel, \u201cThe Exterminating Angel\u201d and \u201cThe Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie,\u201d reports <a href=\"http:\/\/artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com\/2014\/10\/11\/stephen-sondheim-plans-a-new-musical-based-on-bunuel-film\/?_php=true&amp;_type=blogs&amp;_r=0\">the New York Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Sondheim, who has won Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize in drama for his works, which include the lyrics for \u201cWest Side Story\u201d and \u201cGypsy\u201d and the full scores for \u201cFollies,\u201d \u201cSweeney Todd,\u201d \u201c<span data-term=\"goog_1208579101\">Sunday<\/span> in the Park with George,\u201d and \u201cInto the Woods,\u201d confirmed the new project during an appearance <span data-term=\"goog_1208579102\">on Friday<\/span> night at the New Yorker Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Describing by the two surrealist films by Bu\u00f1uel, Mr. Sondheim noted at the event that \u201cDiscreet Charm\u201d involved a group of people trying to find a place to dine together, and \u201cExterminating Angel\u201d centers on people who finally dine \u2013 and are trapped afterwards in hellish circumstances.
