If he has a platform, that\u2019s not true of a group of young gay asylum seekers in Brooklyn who couldn\u2019t compete because they\u2019d fled Russia before the games. \u201cI didn\u2019t know anyone who\u2019d done it before,\u201d says one man of coming out.<\/p>\n<p>The films show how violence, both ignored and encouraged by the state, has become the new normal for gays in Russia. As one LGBT activist in <em>To Russia With Love<\/em> puts it, \u201cWhen the games are over, ugly things start happening.\u201d Sadly, that time is now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/106213930\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The T Word<\/p>\n<p>Laverne Cox has released the first trailer from her new documentary.
