Lierman<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A concert scheduled for September 13<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in Santo Domingo has been canceled by the government of the Dominican Republic, apparently on moral grounds. Among the charges against the singer is that she promotes lesbian sex. Via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.advocate.com\/arts-entertainment\/music\/2014\/08\/22\/dominican-republic-bans-miley-cyrus-promoting-lesbian-sex\">The Advocate<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In a statement released\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1156053589\">Thursday<\/span>, the commission said the concert was to be called off because it would \u201coffend the morals, good customs and relationship between friendly countries\u201d because of \u201cCyrus&#8217; common engagement in acts during her concerts that defy morals and customs in ways usually penalized by Dominican law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The commission also claims Cyrus \u201cuses inadequate attire, corrupts language, uses perverse imagery and phrasing, uses phrases with double meanings, glorifies crime, violence and denigrating acts against civility and promotes sex, lesbian sex and the use of inadequate [sic] objects in public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though homosexuality isn\u2019t illegal in the Dominican Republic, there has been an increase in antigay sentiment from religious leaders in the island nation since the appointment of a gay U.S. ambassador.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ashely R.
