The study submitted applications to 100 jobs from these companies. According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinknews.co.uk\/2014\/07\/01\/us-study-finds-employers-discriminate-in-favour-of-straight-applicants\/\">PinkNews<\/a>: &#8220;<span style=\"color: #222222;\">The pairs of CVs were similar except one listed the applicant\u2019s leadership role in an LGBT-rights NGO and the other listed a role in a non-LGBT NGO.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Their findings? LGBT applicants were 23 percent less likely to receive a response than less qualified presumed straight applicants. These results show the need for protections to be issued by the federal government whether through Congressional action or via executive order. If LGBT people are repeatedly screened out due to sexual orientation or gender identity, it leaves an uneven employment field that may continuously harm some people.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?
