Cover of Society and the Healthy HomosexualSociety and the Healthy Homosexual: How to Get the Most Out of Being Gay. By George Weinberg, with foreward by Gerry E. Studds. AIyson. Copyrighted 1972 by George Weinberg, with Foreword copyrighted in 1991 by Alyson Publications. $7.95. (ISBN 1-55583-193-1)

Authored by the psychotherapist who is credited
with coining the word “homophobia”, George Weinberg’s
book has not been updated since it was first published in
1972.

Despite the outdated statistics, the references to
organizations which have disappeared over the years, and
the fact that most of the research cited in this book was
written in the “Pre-Stonewall Era” – the fact is that this is
an easy to read “classic” which should be on the shelves of
every public and academic library in the world!
