Mississippi Businesses Band Together To Reject “Religious Freedom” Law

While Mississippi may have signed a “religious freedom” bill into law last week, that doesn’t mean that all Mississippi businesses are taking the news lying down. The law allows businesses to refuse service to any person based on the sincerely held religious belief of the person providing the service. Although targeted towards the LGBT community, this law clearly has implications that extend to many minorities.

A group of more than 30 businesses in Mississippi have joined together to say that not only is this law bad policy, it’s bad business, too. Dubbed the “If You’re Buying, We’re Selling” campaign, businesses are now displaying stickers on the front doors of their establishment letting individuals know that no person will ever be discriminated against in that business. The stickers are being printed by Equality Mississippi, and business owners can get more information by e-mailing them at info@equalitymississippi.org.
