We live in a different world than we did a few weeks ago, and as our anxiety levels increase in the first few weeks of the Trump administration, it might be a good time to begin to evaluate possible ways to make our situations better.  So, what can we actually do now to make a difference or at least alleviate some apprehension?

  1. Pay attention to local politics
  2. Get involved
  3. Avoid hyper-partisan echo chambers
  4. Attempt to understand the other side
  5. Remember the midterms are only 22 months away

 

Americans’ Inauguration Gift To Trump: A Wave Of Same-Sex Marriages

Trump has indicated in the past that he is “fine” with marriage equality, going so far as saying in an interview with CBS days after the election that the supreme court decision is “done”.  But given how often Trump changes stance, his anti-gay cabinet, and his indication that he would appoint conservative judges to the supreme court, many are concerned.  This concern has many same-sex couples running down the aisle.

 

George Takei Discusses One Of Trump’s Biggest Hypocrisies

George Takei and Donald Trump have history.  They have shared lunch and discussed marriage equality.  Takei indicates that he feels Trump is uneducated, and he fears our democracy could “stumble” under Trump.  Takei also said Trump’s plans and ramblings come more from lack of knowledge than from deeply held convictions.
