TechCrunch, The Washington Post, and The Advocate, among other news outlets, report that moments after being inaugurated, the LGBT, climate change, and other sections of the Whitehouse.gov website disappeared. Many felt this could be a sign of hostility toward the LGBT community, especially given the history of gay opposition of VP Mike Pence and other cabinet members. While no explanation was given on the part of the Trump administration, others have noted that, at least some, of the information can be located at https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/LGBT. It is unclear whether the Trump administration will replace any of the information.
Editors Note: The Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine has captured the page as it looked right before President Obama left office. A search for the terms LGBT on whitehouse.gov returns no results.
