Announcements and thanks have already gone out over the listserv, but I wanted to add my voice briefly to the chorus. Congratulations to all of our members who have won in this year’s elections. Also, I would like to commend everyone who stood for office in GLBTRT, Council, or another division or RT. It’s the people willing to volunteer their time and energy that keep ALA strong, and even if you didn’t get it, I and many others appreciate your willingness to serve.
I always wanted to point out, data junkie that I am, that GLBTRT had the second-highest percentage response rate of any ballot put out by ALA. The only division or RT that beat us was the Retired Members Round Table. 38.7 percent of our eligible membership, or 365 members, voted in on our ballot. I think this speaks to the engagement that our members have with GLBTRT, and their desire to maintain involvement with the group.
Once again, congratulations to our incoming chair-elect, treasurer, and board members (and returning board member). To another fantastic year!
