This week, Switzerland has voted for a law that would protect GLBT people from discrimination. By a vote of 103-73, the parliament approved a measure that would ban discrimination and hate speech based on gender identity and sexual orientation. Further, progress is being made on same sex unions with 54% of Swiss people approving of them and the lower house of parliament having passed a bill to legalize them earlier this year.

Peru’s legislature rejected a bill that would have allowed for same sex unions. Protests in favor of the law broke out immediately following the decision.

Advocate.com has released an interesting report on Central American GLBT people and their muddy immigration status. It can be read here.
