My name is Dan Abben, and I am a graduate student at DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Â The GLBTRT agreed to forward this e-mail on my behalf.
I am conducting a study to examine the effectiveness of various web-based strategies that organizations can use to recruit new employees.  I am writing to see if you would be willing to participate in this study.  Briefly, you will be asked to imagine that you are applying for a job.  Then you will be asked to review a fictitious company’s job ad and complete a series of questionnaires that assess your perception of the organization.  Finally, you will be asked to provide basic demographic information.
The responses of people who choose to participate in this study will be anonymous.  I will not be able to identify individual participants, and people’s names will not be collected.  In addition, the results will only be reported in the aggregate.
This study will take about 15 minutes to complete. Â As an incentive, people who choose to participate may enter a drawing for one of three gift cards, each of which is valued at $25. Â The raffle will be conducted after the study data are collected, and only winners will be contacted. Â The e-mail addresses that are provided for this purpose will only be used to contact the winners; the list of addresses will be destroyed after the raffle is complete. Â In addition, researchers will not be able to match the email addresses that are provided with the individual survey responses.
